Don’t let a torn hammy get in the way of a good days hockey.
Some would argue the pre game prep wasn’t ideal, with shirts being left at home and players been pulled up from the 2s and what seemed to be Maidstone endless traffic jams we finally arrived with 13 players.
The game started at a frantic pace with chances at both ends, however it was Maidstone who took the early advantage which can only be described as a blunder of all blunders from the prestigious wiggy 1-0 maidstone!
Herne Bay did have a chance to make it 1-1 very quickly after Maidstone's goal however Kris’s over hit couldn’t find Hasler at the back post! Some questioned it as an open goal miss! But the DOD explains all!
Bay were soon on level terms when Matt Reeve slotted home from a pass from Hasler! 1-1! The game then turned into one way traffic with Pete Nash scoring from top the D with a fierce shot. 2-1 the Bay! This was extended just before half time when Matt Reeve beat two players to pass the bay to Hasler who performed a heroic dive to slot the ball home! 3-1 the bay!
The second half followed suit with a Bay domination! With Hasler netting 3 to put the bay 6-1 up! Just so we don’t have any tears, we have to mention Kris scoring the 7th goal that was rifled from a short corner, some would say it broke the sound barrier and is still travelling through the backboard and beat Matt Reeve home.
In the last minute unfortunately we lost our beloved Matt Reeve to what looks like a hamstring injury, or he was just trying to rival Kris’s 8.2 belly flop in the first half.
Good game, good laugh, still top off the league may be banned from writing match reports but I’m going out swinging.
