Herne Bay ladies 1’s VS Edenbridge:
The ladies had another early start this morning and a small hope that the game might be cancelled. With confirmation that the game was going ahead the ladies travelled to face Edenbridge.
Upon arrival we quickly discovered we had matching socks with the opposition and with no one having any alternatives we had to get creative. This involved duct tape, swapping under-socks with our main socks (pizza socks are a good look) and just wearing shin pads.
With that dilemma out of the way we could actually start the first half. In true Herne Bay fashion we let the opposition score first just to be friendly. We quickly came back strong with Sophy Forwood taking a cracking deflection sending it into the back of the net. Bay continued their strong attack and after a couple of short corners Rachel Gentry managed to convert one putting the Bay 2-1 up. Jade Walker, wanting to make up for DOD last week, got herself on the scoreboard and put the us 3-1 up. Sophy saw the first half out with a final goal leaving the half time score at 4-1.
With some constructive criticism during half time and some things to improve upon we were prepared to take on the second half.
The second half wasn’t as goal filled but it definitely was injury filled. Sharron took a ball to knee and had to be assisted off the pitch, Lisa Watson took a ball to the leg which has left a nice bruise and finally Amber Potter took a ball to the shoulder (“luckily she’s a fast turner”). Sophy also scored the final goal of the game leaving the final score at 5-1 win for the Bay.
