Never let the M20 get in the way of a good days hockey’
2 thirds of the men’s 1st XI travelled to Blackheath for a top of the table clash via the A2 (great option) whilst the other third decided to go via the M20(very bad option) with the game delayed by 20mins due to traffic the game commenced.
The first 20mins was a solid display from both teams with little to no chances arising! With the game very tight and some woeful umpiring the game started to liven up abit Blackheath snuck a deflected effort in 1-0 to them! Bay fought hard until half time trying our best to create some clear cut chances even after the umpire had given his first card of the match(there were a few)
The Second half got off much like the first a very evenly contested match with the cards at full flow, Blackheath scored from a short corner, 2-0 down Craig Dale words ‘lets up it boys’ which worked well with immediate effect straight from the re-start of their goal we piled forward and after some good play and the keeper rushing out to block and leaving the goal open Jamie Mcvey took 15 touches to put the ball into the empty goal!
The Bay continued to look for an equaliser but to no prevail
Final score: Blackheath 2 Herne Bay 1
