Match Report

‘Are they actually going to turn up.....’

Herne Bay 1st XI took on the University of Kent for our final game at HBHS. With a big emphasis on a strong start, we were ready to go for a 12pm start. University of Kent clearly didn’t have the same idea after turning up at 12.15pm. Perhaps they stopped to check out our new ‘manor’ en route.

After a delayed start we were underway, we implemented our man to man full press, took lead and decided not to concede first, breaking our little come back tradition.

The goals kept coming and didn’t stop, with a half time score of 10-1 to the Bay.

The second half was just as eventful with some spectacular high pitched screams, beautiful control from aerials (shame it was with a foot not stick), interesting ‘german’ short corners and Herne Bay scoring our first P-Flick (thanks to Colly) of the season. Of course there were more goals, another 5 for the Bay.

The game finished with Herne Bay lowering the curtain on our old ‘manor’ with a 15-2 win. With Blackheath and Canterbury both losing and our superior goal difference we finally sit top of the table and look forward to remaining there at our new ground.
